Youth behavioral health key discussion during legislative session

SAN ANTONIO (July 2, 2019) – the 86th Texas Legislature ended with the approval of several key bills. Among those were bills regarding the behavioral health of youth.

Join the San Antonio Area Foundation and the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation for this important and informative legislative update on the bills that made it, the ones that did not, and the impact for youth in our area. Experts in the fields of mental health, substance abuse and education will lead the discussion.

Featured experts include:

  • Allison Greer, Center for Health Care Services
  • Deborah Caldwell, Northeast Independent School District
  • Chris Bryan, Clarity Child Guidance Services
  • Abigail Moore, San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness

The discussion follows the release in February of the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute study, which played a key role in legislative discussion this session. The study helps to create a pathway for “upstream” behavioral health services for area youth.

The legislative update takes place Friday, July 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the San Antonio Area Foundation, 303 Pearl Parkway, Ste 114, San Antonio, 78215. Parking is free.
