Join us to learn the purpose of the strategic planning process, the steps involved, the benefits and limitations, and follow-up techniques for planning goals and objectives.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Learn the role of Strategic Planning in a nonprofit organization,
  • Understand the benefits and limitations of a Strategic Planning process,
  • Highlight the components of a Strategic Plan,
  • Discuss the types of facilitation skills needed, and 
  • Learn how to make the Strategic Plan a guiding document for your nonprofit organization.

Who should take this class?
Board members, Executive Directors, managers, and supervisors.

This workshop is included in our Nonprofit Management Certification series and fulfills three hours in the Organizational Management competency area.

Meet our Presenter:

Rose Mary Fry is a native of Ohio and she received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Ohio Dominican College and a graduate degree in Staff and Organizational Development from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.  She has 35 years of experience in the education, nonprofit, and for profit sectors.  Since September, 2010, she has worked as a nonprofit consultant focusing on training and consulting services to new and established nonprofit organizations.  Her previous position was as founding Executive Director of the Texas Nonprofit Management Assistance Network, a 501(c)(3) organization that helped identify and meet the needs of Texas nonprofits through work with nonprofit resource centers and academic providers in Texas.  Previously, she was Executive Director of the Nonprofit Resource Center of Texas in San Antonio, the oldest resource center in the state.

Rose Mary serves as a Board Member of Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, and ACCION Network, Co-Chair of Say Si Leadership Council, and a member of San Antonio 100.  She previously served as Board President of ACCION Texas, Board President of Impact San Antonio, Board President of Texas Public Radio, Campaign Chair of Say Si’s Capital Campaign, President of the Hollow at Inwood Homeowners Association, and Chair of the National Alumni Advisory Board for Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.  She is a 2009 graduate of Class V of the Masters Leadership Program in San Antonio.

REFUND/CREDIT POLICY: The San Antonio Area Foundation has a strict no refund policy.
If the registrant is not able to attend the workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent. If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.
