Thoughts from my reading
In September, after Dennis had been here less than a month, he wrote this note:
Guys, I have spent a fair amount of my time these first few weeks reading everything I can about the San Antonio Area Foundation so I can better think about and respond to the issues we face . Yesterday, I read a history of the Area Foundation ( from 7 years ago) that included this paragraph :
In our community, need doesn’t have just one address. Want doesn’t have just one name. People from all age, ethnic and societal groups reach out for help every day. And, try as they might, charitable organizations, working independently of each other, can do only so much. Philanthropy needs to take on many forms. It has to reach deep into the community, at every level, wherever need exists, to truly have a profound impact. That’s why there’s the San Antonio Area Foundation.
That’s one of the best summaries of the impact we have I’ve come across and the most important reason that I’m happy to be part of this team .
All the best, Dennis
