The Richmond Family Foundation was established as a Supporting Organization in 2006. The Foundation selects one charity each year as the recipient of a matching challenge grant of up to $100,000. The Richmonds invite the community to join them in supporting a charity with a focus on helping the homeless or others in dire situations who need assistance in getting back on track. The gift is made in March to commemorate the anniversary date of the Richmond’s business – March 16, 1968. It is a way for the Richmond’s to give back to the local community that has brought them so much success, and to directly make an impact on the quality of life for San Antonio's citizens in need. Past recipients include: Christian Assistance Ministry (2008 recipient); SAMMinistries (2007 recipient); and San Antonio Urban Ministries (2006 recipient)

Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) is having a blessed spring! Their recent fundraising campaign drew over $277,000 in donations from individuals, families, local churches, and corporations. Recently, the San Antonio Area Foundation was pleased to present a check for an additional $100,000 on behalf of the Richmond Family Foundation, a supporting organization of the San Antonio Area Foundation. The Richmond Family Foundation matched the first $100,000 raised by CAM during the month of March in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the family’s Pizza Hut franchise.
For 11 years, the Richmond Family Foundation has matched a challenge grant benefiting a local nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for all of the community. As the first Richard Family Foundation grant recipient in 1998, Christian Assistance Ministry has provided immediate and temporary assistance to individuals and families in crisis. Through their programs, CAM helps many area residents become self-sufficient and avoid homelessness. In addition, CAM runs The Day Center, a safe haven in downtown San Antonio offering laundry and shower facilities, a library, and a place to receive help from social service agencies.
“We should love each other - that means caring for our neighbors: where those in mourning are comforted; where the hungry are fed; where the poor hear good news,” states Jack Richmond, Chairman. “Our Foundation strives to give energy and help to those angels among us who are actively caring for such neighbors.”
