Are all scholarships awarded for the same amount? |

The average scholarship award is $2,000, but they may range in size from $500-$2,000. |

May I fax or email my application? |

The Area Foundation does not accept applications by fax or email. You must submit other items (such as transcripts) that do not transmit easily. |

How and when will I be notified if I receive a scholarship? May I call to follow up? |

Once you have submitted a completed scholarship application, the committee will review the applications. If you are selected as a new recipient, you will be notified as to which scholarship you will receive and how much the scholarship is for. |

What are my chances for receiving a scholarship? |

Volunteer scholarship selection committees review all applications and select recipients based on availability of funds and the competitiveness of the applicant pool. Competition for scholarships is strong and meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee funding. |

If my application is declined, can you tell me why? |

Because of the number of applications that we receive, it is impossible to notify applicants regarding why they were not selected. |

May I apply for more than one scholarship at a time? |

You are encouraged to apply for all scholarships for which you meet eligibility requirements. |

If I receive a scholarship, what do I need to do? |
| A: |
Sign and return the verification form. This will verify that you are still attending the college or university indicated on your application.
Sign and return the authorization form. This form will be used to verify you were in school for the year.
Reply promptly to requests for information.
Make note of all deadlines. They are firm.
Notify the Area Foundation of any changes in status within two weeks of the change, especially if there is a change in your permanent address or phone number.
Notify the Area Foundation of campus address and phone number (if applicable) or other contact information.
Notify the Area Foundation immediately if you stop attending school. |

May I contact the donors who provided the funds for my scholarship? |
| A: |
The Area Foundation would be happy to forward your correspondence to the donors, if they are living. You may address all correspondence to the San Antonio Area Foundation, 110 Broadway, Suite 230, 78205.
