The San Antonio Area Foundation is dedicated to you.  We serve as a comprehensive center for philanthropy, applying our community and grant-making experience, connections and expertise on behalf of donors, nonprofits, businesses and family and private foundations.

We want to make sure you are aware of the Area Foundation’s suite of services for nonprofit organizations.  Each service we provide is designed to build nonprofit capacity and ensure that donors are connected to the needs in the community they care about.

Grant Opportunities
The Area Foundation has multiple funding opportunities available for local nonprofit organizations:
1. The Area Foundation’s own annual competitive grant requests
2. The Special and Urgent Needs Fund of the Area Foundation
3. Grant opportunities administered through our Partners in Philanthropy Program and the Charity Wish List

Agency Fund Opportunities
The Area Foundation offers a variety of different types of funds to meet the specific organizational needs of a nonprofit.  For example, a nonprofit may establish a fund to invest its operational assets, protect its endowed monies to meet future needs, provide a relatively constant source of annual income, provide a vehicle for specific project funds, accept Real Estate and other planned gifts to help fulfill its mission in the short term and/or in perpetuity.  Fund holders can log in to Donor Central and view fund activity, see fund balances and download fund statements in PDF format.

Planned Giving and Alternative Assets
The Area Foundation is able to accept myriad charitable gifts beyond traditional cash and stock gifts, which could benefit your nonprofit.  We have the ability to readily accept such gifts as real estate, life insurance policies and artwork.  We offer many planned giving options for you and your donors, such as charitable gift annuities.  Our staff has the ability to receive, sell and manage these gifts in a cost-effective manner, resulting in maximum possible dollars available for your nonprofit.
