Supporting Organizations
Supporting Organizations of the San Antonio Area Foundation are separately incorporated foundations. Treated as public charities, Supporting Organizations enjoy many tax and legal advantages not available to private foundations including relief from burdening administrative and management costs, the freedom to expand their donor base, and opportunity to build greater community philanthropy. To be eligible for Supporting Organization status, an entity must meet certain criteria, and operate as a Texas non-profit corporation with tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) organization. The San Antonio Area Foundation currently partners with the following Supporting Organizations:

The Gunn Family Foundation
The Gunn Family Foundation joined the San Antonio Area Foundation as a Supporting Organization in 1994. The Gunn Family Foundation supports a variety of area nonprofit organizations dedicated to education, the arts, programs for women and children, and historic preservation. By partnering with the Area Foundation, the Gunns have successfully grown their philanthropic dollars and awarded an array of regional grants that reflect their desire for a vibrant cultural community. Kym's Kids
K. Rapier Kids, known as Kym’s Kids, has been a Supporting Organization of the San Antonio Area Foundation since 2010. Kym’s Kids provides scholarships to students who have financial need and are from Bexar County. Students participate in community service projects and earn volunteer hours that are credited toward scholarships. Click here for more information. Back to top
Rapier Educational Foundation
A Supporting Organization of the San Antonio Area Foundation since 2010, the Rapier Educational Foundation provides scholarships to students from Bexar County and any other area in which WellMed Medical Management, Inc. conducts business. In 2011, 56 students received scholarships to pursue post-secondary education. Back to top
Richmond Family Foundation
A Supporting Organization in 2006, the Richmond Family Foundation provides a matching challenge grant of up to $100,000 to one charity each year. Dedicated to supporting innovative programs improving the community’s quality of life, the Richmond Family award their grant every year on the anniversary date of their business, Pizza Hut, Inc. of San Antonio. In 2011 the recipient was St. Vinny's Bistro. Back to top
Warm Springs Foundation
Providing nursing, therapy, and diagnostic services as well as ancillary care to indigent patients are part of Warm Springs Foundation’s mission. The Foundation generates funds to promote and provide rehabilitation for patients in the South Texas area regardless of their ability to pay. In addition, it provides partial funding for the Rosemary E. Kowalski Resource Center for People with Disabilities, that is run by OASIS. The Resource Center provides support groups and workshops for adults and seniors with physical disabilities. Warm Springs Foundation became a Supporting Organization of the San Antonio Area Foundation in 2007. Back to top
